Thanksgiving at My House

Thanks for all of your comments and ideas for Ella's "Pink & Chinese" bedroom! I would love to get your thoughts on another dilemma.

Did I mention that I'm having Thanksgiving at my house this year? I am really excited. I have been thinking about it and planning it out for a few weeks now. I know the table scape is going to involve burlap. But I would like to off-set the burlap with an elegant centerpiece. I have been looking around for some ideas and inspiration. Here is what I have come up with so far:

What do you think? Are any of these your favorites? Or have you seen something fabulous that you could share with me? Thanks so much!
Have a Great Day!
XOXO

You so have to use burlap on your table you are the Queen of burlap. I love the napkin rings, and I think the artichoke center peice is awesome. Whatever you decide on be sure to take pictures. I'm sure your table will look beautiful!

I love the first one. The veggies around the candles are easy, yet elegent. Plus, IMO, you don't want anything super bulky or tall. You want to be able to see your guests, not look around things to talk to them. And the simple burlap napkins with their name on it....love it! It's kind of a fun take-home gift, too.

I love the Martha one and then the vase on. You could use your dollar store photo frames and place those on your table with some Fall Flowers in a vase like the one in this post.

I love the napkin rings! I think my favorite table scape is the white gourds and candles.

I LOVE the burlap paired with vintage brooches! Such a great combo! I don't think you could go wrong with any of them.
Can't wait to see what you do.

I love the napkin rings! I have that same stuff but with red stitching instead of black...I'm hosting 2 Thanksgiving dinners at my house...I know right? One dinner will be traditional the other prime rib. Our parents are divorced so everyone is coming in 2 waves....good luck with your centerpiece, can't wait to see it :)

saw a headboard in an old magazine today and thought of you. lengths of bamboo were lashed together (90 degrees) to build the headboard. a woven-grass window covering is draped over the top bamboo pole to fill in the gap between the bamboo uprights. a string of folded paper origami cranes/birds with rings for sliding was draped along the top. a lamp pedestal, pic frame, and candle holders were also made out of bamboo -- very oriental and cute! good luck with your projects. rita

Ooooh, so many pretty things!!! I do have to say that I ♥ the Martha Stewart one with the wheat!! And I ♥ that one in the beginning with all the white candles.

I was actually looking through all of the magazine pictures & inspiration that I have saved. I'm organizing them and putting them into binders by subject or holiday. I found some pretty Thanksgiving stuff, so I'm going to look through again, and see if I can find you anything else. But you already have some super amazing ideas!!!

Oh! I've been so excited to do my Thanksgiving table. I've been playing around with ideas in my head for awhile. I too was planning on using burlap. Originally I was going to do burlap placemats but I changed my mind. I think I will do a runner instead. My goal is to have an earthy rustic paired with classic elegant tradition. I made that Martha Stewart Wheat for a centerpiece a few weeks ago BUT it didn't turn out nearly as nice! :( I also ordered some cool placecards (lol, YES! I've been waiting for Thanksgiving) ;) Can't wait to see all the fun tables!

All fabulous ideas! But, I would say my faves are Heather's burlap-covered vase. I could see one at the head of each place setting. And, CL's photo centerpiece. I love the very personal touch of that tablescape. Maybe using photos of relatives present and past. A great way to generate conversations of thankfulness and remembrance of loved ones no longer with us. Mmm, think I may have just planned my T'giving table!

Thanks for sharing. Can't wait to see what you decide. As usual, I LOVE your blog!

What's with all of Martha's stuff being so faded? Isnt fall about the vibrate and bountiful harvest?! Nothing's cuter than bright pumpkins and funky gourds (we lacquer them for extra shine)mix that shine and color with the burlap for contrast. I did like the vase wrapped in burlap.

I love the pumpkin trio! I am having Thanksgiving here and having6 people that work for my husband over, too. I might steal that idea!

I love the pumpkins, but the artichokes just blew my mind..wow. They're so great.

I don't like tall centerpieces at all so those wouldn't be my choice even though they are beautiful. :)

Marie said...

Love them all Jen. What about a Burlap Cornucopia? (Don't know if I spelt that right!) I am cooking Thanksgiving dinner for about 40 people where I work. It will be a LOOOOONG day for me!

I've been following your blog for awhile, and I know that everything you do is amazing, so I have utmost faith that no matter what you do, your table will look incredible!

I especially love the white candles centerpiece, the pears and wheat, and the photo one would be great with pictures of you family - the things you are thankful for!

My Fav is the last one with the photos of family. Its a great way to show thanks to the family legacy's that we have!!

I love the pears and the burlap! So many pretties.

I love the white candles tablescape, the burlap napkin rings and the Heather Bullard vase. I think they would pretty much all look great together, too!!
You could also take a crystal punch bowl and fill it with pinecones, pumpkins, and acorns and use a huge pillar candle in the middle.

i have to say i loved the very first pic of the small candles covered with beans, artichokes and such. it simple and small enough talk above and you could scatter them randomly in between dishes.

Thanksgiving at your house is going to be phenomenal I'm sure! I really love that first picture w/ the candles surrounded by asparagus and artichokes...I love the greens! I think that type of centerpiece w/ your burlap included would be perfect! Can't wait to see what you come up with!

For Mother's Day Brunch I did hanging floral arrangements with strips of burlap tucked inbetween the flowers. It was really cute and saved me a TON of money on flowers. I'll be using burlap for Thanksgiving too...
